Web Developer
Role Purpose
Working as a part of the team, the successful candidate will be engaged in all stages of website development. The PHP Web Developer will be involved in structural planning, creative brainstorming as well as HTML Programming, PHP programming and Database Design among others.
Technical / Professional Requirements
• Demonstrate web development experience for multiple projects
• Be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of PHP
• Be aware of different PHP frameworks such as PHP Cake and ABOD
• Knowledge of Open Source PHP tools
• Be experienced in Object Oriented programming
• Be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of HTML5 and CSS
• Be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of JavaScript including AJAX
• Awareness of MySQL database concepts
• Good Knowledge of using Linux
• Be aware of, and able to work to, the standards set by W3C for web development and accessibility
• Experience of building and working with Open Source Content Management Systems
• An understanding of how to write secure PHP code
• Experience of Search Engine Optimization techniques
Competency / Performance Requirements
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and have general interest in the Internet
• Be able to work independently and in a team environment
• Have excellent interpersonal skills
• Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Be flexible
• Be able to handle stress very well
• Deadline oriented
• Willing to learn new tools and technologies
Minimum Education Requirements
• Computer Science Graduate or equivalent certificates
• Very good command of the English language – written and spoken
• Courses in web development and equivalents are a plus
