Title:Vendor Manager
Reports to: should be Business Development manager but this can be CM
Job purpose:
To manage external resources of all kinds such as translators, interpreters, voices and external DTP. In addition, to apply quality management to these resources and keep their data, tools, training and experience up-to-date by contacting them on a regular and ongoing basis.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1- Perform a combination of contract, performance and relationship management roles with vendors
2- Carry out the evaluation and selection of vendors, as well as negotiating purchase contracts and/or service level agreements
3- Gather information about problems with vendors or products and act accordingly
4- Search for new vendors in different networks and channels
5- Contact possible resources, filing in their data, retrieving filled vendor forms, CVs, NDA’sand updating existing data sets (Creating an archiving system)
6- Monitoring the freelancer market, conditions and rates. Negotiating with new and current vendors to achieve reasonable rates
7- Use testing tools to test new vendors, and to re-evaluate existing resources
8- Monitor PMs’ use of vendors
9- The VM should keep up to date on the latest CAT tools, & motivate vendors to buy new versions, and/or organize/offer special rates or discounts if necessary
10- Communication with the marketing department to check if they need new vendors for new language
11- Regular evaluation of the vendors with reports to show our progress
12- Frequent information on new vendors or other news regarding vendors, languages or external services. Recipients of this information will be PMs, marketing dept., heads of translation and the DTP dept
13- Weekly & monthly reports
Education and experience:
1- Strong English is a must
2- 3-5 years experience in customer service
3- High communication skills
4- Team player
5- Must have analytical experience, be accurate with figures, well organized and exercise sound judgment in decision making
6- Professional experience in working MS Office and creating solutions
7- Ability to deal with people effectively
8- Sensitivity and respect for different cultures
9- Ability to work under pressure, Meeting due dates
10- Provide occasional back up or assistance to colleagues in other departments
